I AM IN THE FORE FRONT FOR THE RELOCATION OF EXXONMOBIL HEADQUARTER - UDOM EMMANUEL

The Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Deacon Udom Emmanuel insisted that ExxonMobil Corporation must as a matter of priority relocated their Headquarter from Lagos to Akwa Ibom State. The Governor made this declaration while addressing youth of Eket Federal Constituency led by Host Community Youth Movement at the Grand Coronation of the Paramount Ruler of Ibeno, HRM (Dr) Effiong B. Archianga.
The Governor strongly appealed to the youth of the area not to block any ExxonMobil facilities as him and other stakeholders are working seriously to ensure that the company relocated their headquarter to the host communities.
"I am in the forefront for the relocation of ExxonMobil headquarter to Akwa Ibom State. I don't want you to block ExxonMobil gate but allow them to work while we conclude arrangement for them to relocate from Lagos to Akwa Ibom State.

While addressing the media, the Speaker of Host Community Youth Movement, Comrade Samuel Udoh expressed disappointment on the dearth of infrastructure in ExxonMobil host communities of Ibeno, Eket, Esit Eket and Onna, reiterating the organization commitment to ensure that ExxonMobil comply with the local content law. They demanded for the composition/implementation of MoU between ExxonMobil and the host communities. The youth group which came in their large numbers displayed banners with the following inscriptions: "We strongly demand (1) Immediate constitution/implementation of MoU between our communities and ExxonMobil, (2) Immediate return of ExxonMobil Headquarter within our core communities."

Corroborated the position of the governor and Host Community Youth Movement, the Chairman of Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs and Paramount Ruler of Ibeno LGA, HRM Owong Effiong B. Archianga, JP, FCE, FCAI re-emphasized that ExxonMobil must relocate it's headquarter to its operational base. He stated that the host communities have been marginalized as no indigent of the area own a single oil bloc as the area contributed 70% of the Federal Government revenue. He demanded for ExxonMobil and other multinationals companies to review their MoU with the host communities, noting that a refinery should be built in Ibeno local government area while ExxonMobil also relocate their headquarter to the area. The Ibeno Monarch also demanded for compensation to be paid for the health hazard that is caused by the exploitation of crude oil in their communities. He commended NDDC for their provision of some life touching amenities in Ibeno on terms of road rehabilitation and advised that the standard of jobs done by NDDC contractors should be improved while abandoned projects should be completed without further delay.

Awards were presented to deserving sons of Akwa Ibom State including member representing Esit Eket /Ibeno State Constituency, Rt Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh, Chairman of PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, and others.

The event was attended by Deputy Govenor, Mr. Moses Ekpo, Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke, Secretary to State Government, Sir Etekamba Umoren, members of the State Executive Council, top government officials, political leaders including the State Chairman of PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo and members of the State Executive Committee of PDP, Traditional Rulers Council, MD of ExxonMobil, Nolan O'Neal, security operatives, etc.
